Casual Home Donates $30,000 to American Red Cross in Harvey Relief

New York, New york – September 1st, 2017

Yesterday, August 31st, 2017, our President, Ming Chiang, joined his fellow American Red Cross directors in ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange (video). The event serving as a rallying cry to provide support and relief to those who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The storm has taken the homes of thousands of American families, devastated hundreds of miles of U.S. coastline and totalled an estimated 19 trillion gallons of rainfall, which peaked at a new continental U.S. record of 51.9 inches. Harvey collectively resulting in devastating flooding that is expected to amass more than $190 billion in damages (for reference, Hurricane Katrina capped at $125 billion in damages).

As of Friday morning, the sun is out in Houston; however, millions of Texas and Louisiana residents are still caught in the midst of devastation.

The flooding has been so severe that relief efforts have been stymied to the point of having to wait for flooding to subside to be able to reach those in need. Moreover, thousands are still stranded.

Search and rescue missions are reported to be in full force. It was reported that there were 56,000 911 calls in just a 14 hour period of the storm. The best minds in disaster relief are working to get every resource they can to those in need, but can still use all of the help they can get.
